Twitter announces UK job fair

Twitter has announced the launch of its first-ever UK job fair, following a pilot event that took place in Germany last year.

The job fair, which is set to take place on 24 February, is part of a pan-European project that aims to make careers advice and information accessible to Twitter users across Europe. Each country taking part will use its own translation of the #YourJob hashtag.

For the UK event, Twitter is working with organisations and HR figures including John Lewis, GSK and Macmillan Cancer Support, who will give UK Twitter users the opportunity to seek careers advice, find out about job vacancies, get job application tips and ask careers-related questions.

Organisations involved will also post vacancies on their Twitter feeds, as well as offering input from employees on what it’s like to work there. They will also outline what their organisation looks for in applications from candidates and answer questions from prospective applicants.

Other activities include a webinar in partnership with the National Careers Service, who will give advice on job searching, CV writing and interview techniques, and a Q&A session with Ricky Martin, former winner of The Apprentice who now runs recruitment company HRS.

More details can be found on the Twitter UK blog.
