Top ten public sector job searches revealed

The ten most commonly searched-for public sector roles and areas of work have been revealed by Jobsgopublic, which collated data based on searches that took place on the site during 2014.

The data was compiled using Google Analytics, looking at search terms used on Jobsgopublic. The top ten occupational searches for 2014 were:

  • Housing
  • Finance
  • Social Worker
  • Legal
  • Admin
  • Teaching Assistant
  • Teacher
  • Probation
  • Surveyor
  • Planning

When compared to 2013 there was a degree of consistency in the results, with housing and finance retaining their respective places in the top two positions on the list.

According to Jobsgopublic, the sustained popularity of housing roles on the site was driven by a number of related activities carried out by Jobsgopublic in 2014, including is participation in #HousingDay and publishing a range of housing-related content for the site’s audience.

Meanwhile, there was a significant rise in searches for social worker roles, which rose to third place from sixth in 2013. This is again explained by activity on the site during 2014, with Jobsgopublic’s involvement in World Social Work Day and content centred on aspects of the social work sector.

As for what 2015 might hold, Jobsgopublic expects a further rise for teaching-related searches, which stepped up from eight place to seventh in 2014, while the site’s growing social work audience might help it to creep nearer the top spot.
