The UK’s top employers for work-life balance

Glassdoor’s mission is to help people find jobs and companies they love. Its success relies heavily on capturing the opinions of employees – both past and present – and candidates to allow others to make decision as to whether a company, and the role, is right for them.

Glassdoor holds a database of millions of insights relating to anything from company reviews to CEO approval ratings, and salary reports to interview reviews… and yes, they even get employees to rate the quality of work-life.

And whilst Glassdoor is unable to state exactly how many reviews this data is based on (except to say a minimum of 50 work-life balance ratings were needed to have been submitted between July 2016 and July 2017), it is a reasonable indicator as to who’s at least trying to address the work-life balance – across the tens of thousands of companies listed on the site.

For simplicity, the ratings are rounded to one decimal place, though actual calculations extend beyond the thousandth to determine rank. Marks are out of 5.

The top 20 highest rated companies for work-life balance in 2016/2017 were:

1. Expedia – 4.3
