The Ri5 profile: Hannah Vatani, jobsgopublic

Hannah Vatani is ad agency manager at Jobsgopublic. With a background in sales since graduating from university, Hannah fell into recruitment advertising a year and half ago and hasn’t looked back since.

What was your first job?
My first ever job was a Saturday job working in a camping shop in Kilburn. I was so shy, I used to a run away behind the till when I had to serve customers. I’m not that shy anymore!

How did you first get into your present sector?
I was looking for a career change following a year out after working six years in face-to-face sales. I stalked my friends on Facebook to see who had a fun and successful career - and René McIntosh’s Facebook stood out.

What was your first job in rec comms?
Recruitment sales executive at Incisive Media

Would you do the same again?

What would you do if you didn’t do this?
Ideally I’d be a lady of leisure! On a serious note, I thought about becoming a PE teacher or a letting negotiator.

Favourite industry colleagues and why?
I’ve met some great people so far and there are so many people I’ve learnt a huge amount from. However, I wouldn’t be where I am without Jeremy Roberts and René McIntosh.

Why we love social media?
It’s a great way to keep connected with people.

Why we hate social media?
Getting tagged in the photos you don’t want anyone to see!

Favourite recruitment ad?
Recently, I think Keystone Law has been innovating massively with its recruitment ads. The ads were promoting virtual law firms and put a solicitor in a cage in the middle of Liverpool Street station for 24 hours to demonstrate the difference between virtual law firms and private practice. I thought that was a really powerful way of conveying a message.

Favourite non-recruitment ad?
Cuprinol fence treatment! It’s hilarious and it makes me laugh every time. I think it can be quite difficult to get humour right in an advert but I think that one gets it spot on.

Favourite piece of music/album?
That’s a tough one – I love music! My top four at the moment are:
• Sam Feldt – Show Me Love (EDX’s Indian Summer Remix)
• Mr Probz – Nothing Really Matters (Kav Verhouzer Remix)
• The Weekend – Can’t Feel my Face (The Him Remix)
• Unmissable ft Zak Abel – Gorgon City

Favourite poet?
Rudyard Kipling and his poem, ‘If’

Perfect weekend?
Civilised weekend: Anything to do with exploring somewhere or something new and fun whilst eating and drinking with my loved ones.
Crazy weekend: Festival, music, dancing and laughing, all with my favourite people.

Favourite restaurant for:
Business: Benihana
Enjoying with friends: There are so many, I’m a big foodie! My new discovery is Fishy Fishy in Brighton
Romance: Little Bay, West Hampstead
Eating: Big Easy

Name up to four guests for the perfect dinner party?
My two grandads, Russell Brand, Winston Churchill, Zig Ziglar… ok, so that’s five…

Most looking forward to?
It’s cheesy, but there is so much to look forward to.

Fondest memory?
Ibiza 2014, singing Sister Act songs after Space with some of my favourite people in our fabulous villa!

Favourite sport (participant)?
Horse riding.

Favourite sport (spectator)?

Favourite team?
Manchester United

Holiday – sun/sea, ski, safari, or culture?
Sun and culture would be a winning combo

Three words to describe yourself?
Fun-loving, ambitious, empathetic.

Worst habit?
Not knowing the words to any songs and still singing!

Guilty pleasure?
Lying in bed on a Sunday afternoon eating Ben and Jerry’s ice cream.

Any brushes with fame?
Rugby tackling David Rodigan at Annie Mac’s Lost and Found festival in Malta

What single fact would surprise people the most about you?
I run my own business as well as working for Jobsgopublic
