SMRS: Capturing the character of B&Q

‘The best employer brands have character. Let us capture yours.’ This is the closing positioning statement that SMRS have at the end of their very watchable video about their employer branding work with B&Q. And whilst it’s a bit of a spoiler alert, it tees up the video SMRS have put together nicely.

As a well-established retail brand, many of us have preconceived ideas about B&Q. But what’s working there really like?

In this short film, Dan Kevin – Lead Creative (and generally all-round nice guy), tells us a bit more about how they got under the skin of the organisation to produce a range of messages and values to sum up why B&Q has the potential to be a good home for everyone (in a work sense). They also interviewed their people in stores and in the head office, so that they could share their stories around what B&Q means to them and what it is like to work for them. And now they’re spreading the word across a broad variety of media to get their employer brand out there.

Deborah Garrett, Employer Brand & Attraction Manager at B&Q said, “It’s been a really interesting and challenging project. Now we have an authentic and passion-fuelled employer brand in place, and we’re feeling really enthusiastic about bringing it to life across our business. Already, candidates and colleagues are engaging with our new careers site, and intertest in joining our team is at all-time high – proving when we all work together on a vital project like this, we can make B&Q a good home for everyone.”

If you want to find out more what they’ve been up to, why not take a look?
