Royal Marines Commandos recruitment campaign tells it straight

Everyone knows the Royal Marines are hardcore. Which is why, when it comes to creating a recruitment campaign, it can’t be afraid to pull any punches. They don’t. So far, two films have been launched, put together by WCRS. They’re appearing on broadcast television, video on demand and social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook.

The first is entitled “The Mist” and the second “Spider”. Take a look.

Shot by multi award-winning director Nicolai Fuglsig along with a team that included Oscar-winning Director of Photography, Matyas Erdly, they reinforce the Royal Marines’ long-running strapline “It’s a state of mind’ asking the viewer to challenge what they think is possible.

In order to keep the films authentic, they shot the film on deployment and features combat-ready Royal Marines Commandos.

Paul Colley, Head of Marketing Royal Navy said, “These films really highlight the essence of `It`s a State of Mind` but critically that if you become a Royal Marine you can change what you think is possible”

Whilst Orlando Warner, Creative Director, WCRS said, “We wanted to create a campaign that was true to who the Royal Marines are and reflected the strength of mind required to wear the coveted green beret. The hugely talented Nicolai Fuglsig helped us bring to life these quiet, thoughtful scripts, each focusing on the mental discipline required to be a Royal Marine.”
