How did you first get into the sector?

I worked for a small company doing hard sales and needed a change of scenery.

What was your first recruitment-related job?

My first experience of the lovely world of recruitment advertising came through my first telephone based role for the Metro / Evening Standard.

Accident or design?

Total accident; I would have been happy to work on any sales team, as long as I made bonus. It seems the recruitment industry chose me.

Would you do the same again?

Yes of course, I try not to look back, only forward

What would you do if you didn’t do this?

Unfortunately Arsene Wenger never came calling for my football career to really kick off, so maybe a PE teacher.

Proudest achievements

Professional: Making it through my first RADs without embarrassing myself.

Personal: It’s cheesy, but I’d say my friends.

Top professional influence?

Duncan Bannatyne. Didn’t take life too seriously until he got to 30, then started his empire with ice cream vans. He is also Scottish like me. Top lad.

Favourite industry colleague and why?

Lindsey Hatten (Metro) top banter and always happy even at 9am on a Monday.

Why we love social media?

I can abuse my pals even when they’re in a different country.

Why we hate social media?

My pals can abuse me even when I’m in a different country.

Favourite recruitment ad (and why)?

Starbucks – Apprentices. It was the first big new business campaign I sold.

Favourite non-recruitment ad (and why)?

Coca Cola trucks, always reminds me of being home with my family at Christmas

Favourite piece of music/album?

MF Doom - mmm…Food. Amazing MC and great beats.

Favourite film director, and film?

I’m a massive fan of the mafia genre, so director-wise it has to be Scorsese and my favourite film of his is Goodfellas. “You’re a funny guy…”

Favourite artist, and artwork?

I saw a piece of street art recently in Lisbon by Blu & Os Gemeos, a really huge piece and amazing to see in person.

Perfect weekend?

Good food, good drink, good music and good friends. Simple.

Favourite restaurant for:

Business; Breakfast Club, amazing food and never overly busy for lunch

Enjoying with friends: Bodean’s. The burnt ends are to die for and you need lots of people to help eat the platter. Downside - meat sweats!

Romance: Berners Tavern. Amazing food and the venue is incredible.

Eating: Randall & Aubin. Some of the best seafood you can get in London.

Who are your guests for the perfect dinner party?

Dalai Lama, Nelson Mandela, Kurt Cobain and John Lennon

Something or someone for Room 101?

White Hart Lane?

Most looking forward to?

Ski season next year- I didn’t get to go this year or last year, so I’m really missing the mountain life. Nothing like a Jaeger Bomb after a hard days skiing.

Fondest memory?

University days at Liverpool, no real life responsibilities other than getting a degree (just about).

Favourite sport (participant)?

Football. I’m currently injured for the season but I used to play three times a week.

Favourite sport (spectator)?

Women’s beach volleyball

Favourite team and sporting hero?

Arsenal and the living legend that is Thierry Henry. Va va voom.

Holiday – sun/sea, ski, safari, or culture?

Any holiday with my friends and a bar is good, but if I had to pick one, skiing! Nothing cures a hangover like being on top of a mountain.

Three words to describe yourself?

Relaxed, fun and personable.

Best / worst habit?

I talk a lot when I’ve had a few beers. This can be good and bad.

Guilty pleasure?

Pizza – Dominos, Pizza Hut, Papa Johns. I’ll eat the whole thing!

Any brushes with fame?

I’ve partied with Rudimental on a few occasions, after my sister met them in New York.

What single fact would surprise people the most about you?

I always wanted to be a vet but never got the grades!
