CV-Library

CV-Library has raised £3,900 for Thrombosis UK in its recent charity raffle.  The raffle took place in memory of Sam Chapman from the company’s sales team, who sadly passed away at work last summer. Sam suffered from a Pulmonary Embolism (PE) and Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), which caused Venous Thromboembolism (VTE).

The company secured hundreds of prize donations from its generous staff, local businesses and its own clients and partners. These included items such as champagne, a Fortnum and Mason hamper, music event tickets, restaurant vouchers, experience days, an iPad, speakers and more.

The raffle was organised by Sam’s daughter, Abi Chapman, who works within CV-Library’s marketing department. £3,050 was raised through raffle ticket purchases alone, with Biggins contributing a further £850 from the business.

Thrombosis UK’s mission is for everyone to know the risks, signs and symptoms of VTE and to support research to extend understanding into the prevention and best management of it.

Gumtree

Over the summer Gumtree launched a campaign focused on promoting the platform as the perfect place to land a summer job. Reality TV stars, Lucy Watson (Made in Chelsea) and Marcel Somerville (Love Island 2017), took to the streets of London to help showcase Gumtree as the classifieds site to ‘make it happen’.

The intrepid pair turned their hands to a number of casual summer roles, with both posting job ads on Gumtree before taking on summer jobs trials with some key advertisers.  The activity saw them cycling around London delivering food for delivery business Deliveroo, lending a local a helping hand with TaskRabbit to help build a cot by hand, and even pulling pints at The Crabtree pub in Fulham.

Their job hunting journey was captured in a fun video, which was posted across Gumtree’s social channels. Marcel and Lucy also met with journalists from national news and lifestyle publications, to share their top five tips for landing that perfect summer job.  Gumtree further supported the activity with commissioned research, which revealed the UK’s top 10 dream summer jobs and saw animal conservationist and tropical island caretaker top the list.

Simply Jobs Boards

Simply Jobs Boards is celebrating its 15th anniversary in business this year.  Simply was originally founded by CEO Ian Partington in 2003. Specialising in niche job boards in a number of industries, the Preston office opened for business.

15 years on from Simply’s launch, the UK business has grown from strength to strength in Preston, made up of 14 niche job boards, including Aviation Job Search, InAutomotive and Simply Law Jobs.

Ian Partington said: “15 years ago I set up Simply Jobs Boards from a dingy office in Preston, on my own. Now it’s a business turning over millions and employing over 50 people in Preston and beyond. It’s been a great journey so far that has had plenty of ups and downs, each of which has taught me valuable lessons.

“I have, and still do, work with some great people who have helped me grow the business to where it is today.

“I still have a lot more to do to get the business to where I want it to be, both in the UK and internationally, but now I will be taking some time to reflect on the last 15 years and then get straight back to looking to the future.”
