KPMG grows apprenticeship numbers by 40%

A clear focus on promoting and championing recruitment opportunities at KPMG has seen the firm recruit a record intake.

Their 2017 recruitment drive has resulted in numbers up from 129 in 2016 to 181 this year – an increase of 41% that brings the total recruited into KPMG Apprenticeships to 387.

KPMG’s approach is based on viewing Apprenticeships as central to their recruitment strategy, with a combination of graduates and apprentices feeding into diversity and enhancing the skills, experience and expertise available to clients.

A key factor in enhancing the attractiveness of the apprenticeship was making it available in more locations. Apprentices can now join KMPG in locations such as Southampton, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and Cambridge.

This not only means the business has access to previously untapped talent pools around the country but is a clear sign of their commitment to investing in its regional business.

Two thirds of KPMG’s new apprentice roles will be based in the regions.

150 of the new apprentices will join the six-year KPMG 360° apprenticeship programme, which sees them gain experience working across all areas of the firm, including audit, tax and advisory, before choosing to specialise in a particular area. A successful apprentice who completes the programme in full will progress to sit their professional qualification and will be qualified to exactly the same levels as their graduate colleagues.
