ISE Conference: Awards shortlist and speaker line-up announced

The Institute of Student Employers (ISE) has revealed the speakers for the Student Recruitment Conference 2018 and released the shortlist for its 2018 Awards.

Professor Steve Peters, author of The Chimp Paradox, will headline the two-day event in Wales with a session on ‘the functioning of the mind and the rules by which it operates’.

To reflect the ISE’s 50th anniversary this year, many of the sessions will be future focused, with perspectives on the future of work, regional recruitment and apprenticeships.

Martin McCourt, former CEO of Dyson, will consider up-skilling the UK economy for a post-Brexit future and Claudia Harris, CEO of The Careers and Enterprise Company will look at preparing young people for the fast-changing world of work.

There will also be a panel discussion on graduate recruitment trends and learning over the past 20-plus years, featuring former Sunday Times jobs columnist Simon Howard, Jane Robinson from EY, Martin Birchall of High Fliers Research and James Darley of Teach First and Transform.

Plenary sessions will include Mouhssin Ismail, head of Newham Collegiate Sixth Form and Simon Fanshawe OBE, writer, broadcaster and founding member of Stonewall.

The ISE’s flagship conference also offers a series of seminars and opportunities to network as well as a student recruitment-focused exhibition from a range of industry suppliers.

Delegates will hear the findings of the ISE Internship Survey 2018 and the winners of the ISE Student Recruitment Awards will be announced at a 50th anniversary gala dinner.
