Last night saw the winners of the 2015 Social Media Graduate Recruitment Awards announced, with IBM taking home the Grand Prix alongside two category awards.
The awards followed the Social Media Graduate Recruitment Conference, at which delegates heard from a range of high-profile speakers from organisations including Google, RMP Enterprise, Teach First and the Association of Graduate Recruiters.
The awards were divided into two groups – firstly, the sector categories, voted for by a panel of students, and also a number of general award categories, the shortlists for which were chosen by a panel of industry judges.
After the category award winners were announced, a shortlist of five was revealed for the Grand Prix Award. The judges felt Accenture, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Grant Thornton, IBM and L’Oreal merited consideration for the big prize of the night, with IBM eventually taking it home, due to its innovation, creativity and overall results.
Event organiser Mike Roberts said: “Time and again we have seen the same organisations being recognised for their fantastic achievements. This is notable - it has emerged, particularly this year, that there are some companies with outstanding social media strategies. We would certainly urge others to take heed and learn from this! Special mention should go to Teach First for their success in being shortlisted in three separate sectors, and then going on to win two of them!
“It only remains to say that we look forward to watching, with interest, if sector award winners like Arup, Camp America and John Lewis will hang onto their crowns in 2016. Alternatively, will delegates from this year’s conference, emerge as next year’s victors, having gained some fabulous ideas of how to enhance their social media strategy? Time will tell!”
