Hype for a new agency

The latest addition to the UK recruitment ad agency scene, Hype Collective officially opened for business on 19th February.

London-based Hype Collective is a new agency aiming to help brands engage with 16-25-year olds by co-creating events and content with its network of 5,000 sports clubs and societies.

This network will be involved in everything from creating content on behalf of brands through to social media content creation. In return, the societies get either funds for their activities, practical work experience for members or access to exclusive events and experiences.

Founder Simon Lucey said, “It’s a myth that students are lazy and don’t want to engage with brands. The truth is that they have skills and enthusiasm that brands need. I’ve founded Hype Collective because I believe there’s an opportunity to bridge these two worlds and help brands work with students to tackle the big issues and solve real problems. The students win as they get the support they need to realise their dreams and brands win because their flyers don’t get chucked in the bin.”

Hype Collective launches with several clients, including the Co-op, with their first projects already live at universities across the country.

Georgina Brough, marketing manager at The Co-op said:  "Cracking the student market is a major challenge for every consumer brand. Hype Collective's message of working with our target demographics and helping contribute towards their passions is the perfect way for the Co-op to build relationships with students and we are excited about seeing the results of our first projects over the next few weeks."

Prior to launching Hype Collective, Simon was head of Consumer at Campus Media.. He also co-founded TEDxClapham and helped develop The National Student from a niche site to a national media player, with a network of over 600 student contributors and a regular print offering.
