Hilton’s Elevator graduate programme celebrates its 20th anniversary


Schemes come and schemes go, but one that’s stood the test of the time is Hilton’s Elevator graduate fast track programme. Designed to attract General Managers (GM) of the future, it helps prepare their intakes to be GM ready within 5-8 years. Since it launched in 1998, it’s given hundreds of graduates a career path into an industry they knew little about before graduating.

It’s an 18-month scheme that’s aimed at globally mobile graduates. In their time, they’re given the opportunity to work in two hotels (in a huge array of countries). And they receive intensive on-the-job experience and off-the-job development and learning in the four areas of hotel management: HR, finance, operations and business development.

If successful, it will prepare graduates for their first management role as General Manager. And if the past is anything to go on, it looks like they’ll be helping many more in the years to come.

Rob Zajko, Senior Director, Talent Acquisition EMEA, Hilton said, “This year, we’re celebrating the Elevator program’s 20th anniversary, marking two decades of successfully building new generations of hospitality leaders. A lot has changed in the time, but our fundamental ambition and commitment – to train and upskill young talent to take on the role of General Manager – remains unchanged. We’re looking forward to welcoming out 20th cohort in September, and kicking off the search for our 21st intake from October.”
