Talent Works

Lots of things happened for Talent Works in May, from client wins to new starters.

They’ve recently welcomed Ken Kane, their new Business Development Director. He will be working closely with their sales and marketing teams to strategize future growth. You can read more here.

In Manchester, they welcomed Sam Meadows who’s joined as Research Executive. He’s proving to be a fantastic asset to the team and is working in close partnership with both their digital and creative teams to deliver research-led campaigns for their clients.

Talent Works launched a brand new blog series on interviews, covering everything from techniques and structure, to the types of questions hiring managers should be asking. For this series, they interviewed their Lead Resourcing Partner Amanda Harrison. Check out the blogs to find out what she had to say.

With new clients wins keeping them busy as ever, June looks set to be a fantastic month for Talent Works.

May was an award-winning month for Penna and their clients, with Bristol City Council winning the best HR/OD Transformation Programme Award at the PPMAs. Penna was proud to partner with Bristol on their transformation, culture change and senior leadership team recruitment.

Penna also announced Toni Hall’s promotion to Director Public sector. Toni has been part of the Penna interim team for 7 years. Under her leadership, the business has grown from a 3 to 30 strong team, voted in the top 4 leading teams in the IIM survey for 5 years running.

Penna’s events have been varied in tone and audience recently. On the 6th of June, Tom Walker, Deputy Chief Executive of Homes England, and the MJ joined a lively roundtable on talent and growth in the housing sector.

Penna also held their first London Tech Week event on the 12th of June on the ethics of artificial intelligence. The panel of experts included AI experts from Keele University, Cardlytics, Starling Bank and Health Innovation Manchester.

The agency is buzzing for its next PennaFest. Every July, they decamp London for a place in the country and a day of learning and team building. This year’s theme is ‘helping others’.

Blackbridge Communications

Blackbridge is gearing up for another exciting summer. And it’s not just preparing for grad season that’s been keeping everyone busy.

Last month saw the team catching up with colleagues from the OneAgent global network in Lisbon in support of World Employer Branding Day.

Meanwhile, the agency successfully pitched for International Personal Finance (IPF) for a global employer branding project, and now the team’s set to get things underway by saying ‘hola!’ to the IPF team in Mexico.

They’ve also picked up another award for its work with Bupa Dental Care – this time for Most Effective Employer Brand Development at the Recruiter Awards. And they’re thrilled to have received three ‘best supplier’ nominations for their work with Babcock International Group and Rolls-Royce.

The agency recently launched a brand-new careers website and creative video for Anglian Water, with a few other big web launches in the pipeline. Big projects call for more big thinkers – Laura Ellams has just joined as Client Delivery Manager.

Finally, the latest GTI Breakfast News event saw Digital Operations Director, Ben Nunn, present the latest insights on recruitment technology and its impact on the candidate experience. Roll on the next event on 19 September.

SBW celebrated their 15th birthday in style by taking most of the team to Manchester for the Drum Roses awards.  A great night was had by all and they celebrated in style when they were awarded a bronze award for their Welsh Government Positive Parenting TV and cinema commercial. SBW also had two nominations for the Better Society awards, again for Welsh Government campaigns - these awards were held in London but sadly no gongs at this one. Other news is another office move, this time in Cardiff where they are taking a lease on some lovely office space in Cardiff Bay. Having moved offices in Bristol last summer, they can’t wait to do it all over again. Rachel Buckingham has joined in Bristol and Emily Morris in Cardiff.

Smart Resourcing Solutions

Smart Resourcing Solutions will be presenting together with the University of Leeds at the ISE Student Recruitment and Conference Awards in Manchester in July. They will be sharing their insight into building aspirations and accelerating placement success for Widening Participation students. The full agency can be viewed here. SRS and the University of Leeds have been shortlisted for the ISE Awards 2019 in the category for Outstanding University Partnership with an Employer and/or Supplier with the winners being revealed at the same event.

SRS has enjoyed working on university events with the University of Surrey, London Metropolitan University and Birmingham City University in the last few weeks. Each of these universities has run assessment centre simulations for students with one to one coaching sessions for each student to enhance their learning.

Employer projects are being developed with assessment design and delivery plans in place with their employer clients.

MD, Sophie Milliken is in the process of publishing her first book ‘From Learner to Earner’ which takes graduates through exactly what they need to learn and do to secure the graduate job of their dreams. It will be published in September 2019 by Rethink Press Ltd.

It has been an eventful six weeks or so for AIA, with more activity coming in June and July.

In May, Hazel Bradford (Early Careers Specialist, M&S) and Alex Parkes (Director of Early Careers & STEM Strategy at AIA) gave a presentation on M&S’ new early careers campaign at the ISE Attraction & Marketing Forum. The new campaign is no stranger to the glitz and glamour of award ceremonies either, and AIA was delighted to have bagged a new gong for Most Innovative Recruitment Campaign at the All About School Leaver Awards.

Across Europe, AIA attended World Employer Branding day, where Steven Ehrlich (SVP, Global Client Development, AIA) hosted a workshop on digital employer brand activation. They also attended two HR technology events in Denmark and the Netherlands respectively.

Looking ahead to next month, Yvonne Foster (Head of Resourcing Services, Co-op) will be telling the story of how they reinvented their recruitment for retail. And if you’re heading to RecFest on 11th July, make sure you drop by the Disrupt stage at 11.45am to hear Nathan Perrott (VP Digital Marketing Solutions, AIA) and JobPal show what it takes to deploy an effective chatbot.

Jupiter & Sparks

It’s been a busy few months for the gang at Jupiter and Sparks. Some of them have barely even seen the office recently! There have been video shoots for York Teaching Hospital. Photoshoots to plan for Beaverbrooks. As well as a large number of meetings, pitches and presentations that have taken them from Dublin to The Lake District, Edinburgh to London. All this has, of course, meant that they have welcomed a handful of new clients to the roster.

While half the office has been out and about the rest of the team have been heads down, busy working on Employer Brands for the likes of The O’Callaghan Collection, Marston’s and Kwik Fit. All launching soon.

Oh, and if that wasn’t enough they’re gearing up for Recfest in the next few weeks too.
