Agency Bites

Agency Bites

Here we are in early 2019 with the year off to a flyer and one of the industry’s biggest awards ceremonies already done and dusted. You’ll read about some big agency successes on that front in our latest round-up, which also includes the usual news on business wins, new starters and what’s keeping everyone busy.

Pink Squid

What a start to 2019 in the Squid Tank. Where do we begin? Let’s start with the big one, winning five RADs. Yep, FIVE. Including Best Employer Brand for The White Company, Graduate Campaign for Vodafone and Work of the Year for Capgemini for their diversity and inclusion campaign. This was a record for Pink Squid, the best result they’ve ever had. How did they celebrate? We’re told there were a lot of sore heads on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

What could possibly follow up that, apart from a celebration for Chinese New Year. Nothing says Year of the Pig than getting in enough pizza to feed a small village (or about 30 hungry squids). With paper lanterns and ribbons galore, the office transformed into a magical paradise - btw did you know the original pizza was invented in China?

Birthday news - Antony in UX/UI turned 26, in Project Management Maria 28 and Vicky 26 and our data queen Kate 24. Pink Squid welcomed Becky, their creative intern grad joining for 3 months - already with a video under her belt. They couldn’t think of a better way to kick off the new year and can’t wait to see what’s to follow.

Talent Works

Talent Works welcomed 3 new starters in January, building on the copywriting and content expertise of the Creative and Digital teams. Sarah Hanton (Senior Copywriter), Kate Dicks (Junior Copywriter), and Elle Pemberton (Content and Social Media Executive). With some new projects in the pipeline, and the digital landscape continuing to put a greater emphasis on content, it is fantastic to be able to cater to this developing need.

The team have officially settled into their new workspace in Northampton. The move marks a pivotal milestone for Talent Works as the expansion of space enables the team to continue to grow, reflecting the continuing success of the agency.

Coming up, Talent Works is approaching its 10-year anniversary in March. The whole team is looking forward to celebrating. They will be marking the occasion on their website with some brand-new content. Of course, they also have some exciting celebratory events coming up. More to follow on social media!

Blackbridge Communications

Blackbridge has certainly started the new year with a bang. They’re in the running for a whole load of awards thanks to their work on Heathrow’s careers website and Bupa Dental Care’s employer brand, as well as their supplier partnership with Babcock International Group.

That’s not all. Their early talent campaigns for Rolls-Royce and Capital One have also made the shortlist for the best student marketing campaign categories at the TARGETjobs National Graduate Recruitment Awards.

Meanwhile, a busy few months have seen the agency add more new faces to the team – Bernice Farthing has joined as Senior Social Media Manager, Ben Nunn as Digital Operations Director, Matt James as Creative Services Manager and Ollie Williams as Designer Developer.

Blackbridge has also been getting ready to feed minds as the first GTI Breakfast News event of this year’s four-part series approaches. Taking place on 14th March, the theme will be Brexit: ‘What happens when we jump – how Brexit will impact graduates and employers.’

Smart Resourcing Solutions

It’s been a busy start to 2019 for Smart Resourcing Solutions. Preparation is underway for a large-scale assessment simulation for 360 first year students from the University of Liverpool Management School at Anfield Stadium in March 2019. They are anticipating another strong attendance following the successful event last year.

SRS are delighted to have secured another three University clients this month where they are running a mix of assessment centre simulations and a Widening Participation version which has the added benefit of a 1:1 feedback and coaching session to further support students’ performance and development areas.

Their new Level 3 Accreditation in Employability Skills is proving very popular as an optional extra to assessment centre simulations. The nationally recognised accreditation scheme will prove an impressive addition to a student’s CV, as well as provide a great example to talk about with future employers.

Plans are in place to expand the team and we look forward to welcoming a new University Partnerships Manager in April 2019.

It’s been a good start to 2019 for SBW: a prestigious public sector branding/identity project is getting underway and a new client in the Cayman Islands has signed for 12 months. They’re also working on an interesting employer brand project for a Welsh Health Board and their first magazine project which will have four issues a year. Generally their clients have been active, so no sign of a Brexit slow down at SBW! They’ve welcomed two new team members and sadly lost Caitlin who has moved over to Germany with her boyfriend. Both new recruits are in Cardiff and both are Welsh speakers, Ben joins as Account Executive and Vicky as Account Director.

Day-One by Basis, the groundbreaking Onboarding solution is now live. This cloud and app-based system, recently showcased to HR Leaders at the Talent event in London this Month, has been warmly received as a key product in every resourcing portfolio - reducing attrition, delivering huge ROI, ensuring knowledgeable starters, managing transactional tasks and supporting line managers.

This smart platform dovetails and integrates with all current ATS and e-Learning solutions to complete the candidate journey. Customisable to deliver a personalised and branded journey, the first Client - ASDA Walmart are already using the solution for their Staff intake.

Jupiter & Sparks

Jupiter & Sparks have been developing an Employer Brand for PizzaExpress, as well as working on the video shoot for their Apprentices campaign. They’ve been out and about focus grouping Kwik Fit and Marston’s staff for their respective Employer Brands. They’ve been working on the new Customer Advisors campaign for E.ON, which is about to launch, as well as their Employer Brand. The Bolton NHS Foundation Trust Employer Brand has just had internal approval and will launch soon. They’re going to be doing an Employer Brand for healthcare technology specialists EMIS and also just started work on a huge, in-depth Culture Mirroring project for JCB. Last but not least, they’ve also skidded in three pitches and things are looking pretty good on that front, too.

4MAT, in collaboration with Vodafone, have won a RAD award for Best Employer Website with the judges stating that:

“The website was a stand-out entry with a fresh, detailed employer brand that engaged with its audience and came to life through beautifully designed creative.”

The Vodafone career website was created and launched by 4MAT in only eleven weeks, from the initial kick-off meeting to go-live and provides a fully integrated brand and user experience to meet Vodafone’s business objectives and attract the best candidates from across the market. Using 4MAT’s new smart careers website platform, Attrax, the Vodafone careers website has delivered some outstanding results following its go-live. Application time shrunk from eight to two minutes, 75% of candidates completed their applications as opposed to the previous statistic of 12%, female candidate applications are up by 61% in the UK and 24% of global unique visitors complete an application before they leave.

Vodafone's career website was also commemorated in 2018 as it won two NORA Awards: one for Best Major Employer and the NORA Academy Award. Similarly, it won Best Career Site at the In-House Recruitment Awards.
