With summer well and truly over and Christmas looming in the not too distant future (don’t panic), our agency friends are busy on all fronts. Here’s our latest round-up of news, announcements, people moves and awards from the agency world.


Richard Badley, Head of Innovation at SMRS, will be talking at the School Leavers conference about “The who and how of successful Early Careers engagement”.

SMRS are presenting with Yodel at the IHR Manchester conference about their talent attraction story.  They’ll also be attending Wonkfest.

SMRS have been shortlisted for three RMA Awards, and eleven IHR Awards.

They’ve been having great success with their employer branding, attraction marketing, youth marketing and education marketing masterclasses that they hold throughout the year in London and Manchester


Nottingham University Hospital Trust (NUH) is partnering development and assessment company Capp to design and deliver the Enabling Our Change leadership programme. Bespoke to NUH the blended learning programme will work with 600 people over the next two years.

Enabling Our Change will provide leaders with the opportunity to build their self-awareness as a leader and develop their compassionate, inclusive leadership qualities and system leadership strengths to meet the challenges NUH faces today and in the future.

 “We are delighted to be working with NUH,” said Capp Head of Talent Solutions Stephanie Hopper. “It is a time of great change and transformation for how the NHS works and we believe our development approach will help prepare leaders to take the Trust into the next decade.”

“The NHS is challenged on a number of fronts and ensuring our leaders have the capacity and capability to be the best that they can be will enable us to rise to those challenges in a positive and inspirational way,” added Nicky Hill, Director of HR at NUH.


Basis have been busy creating gorgeous career websites for Arriva, Fabory, Signet and RedCentric. Whilst the solutions team have seen the fruit of 6 years development launched last week at TalentTech Rising: Day-OneDay-One is a cloud-based onboarding solution and application, designed to give new starters the most immersive experience, manage contractural items with ease and hugely reduce attrition. Day-One was voted in the top five products showcased at the event as technology to watch-out for.

In other news Laura, who is Basis’ sparkling front of house ambassador – recently became Mrs Lane.


After ten years looking down on Bristol from the 10th floor of the Colston Tower, SBW have moved to leafy Clifton. They’ve been busy on a branding project for Barts NHS Trust for their sexual health services, also working on a TV campaign for Welsh Government to promote Positive Parenting which gets launched on October 24th not to mention a large exhibition project and a game for Viridor waste and recycling.  They’ve also launched their new website, their 5th since they opened in 2004. So a busy month for SBW and it’s all been the Good Stuff.


Jupiter’s Managing Director, Fiona Horton, is a bit of a legend in the field of Employer Marketing with a 25-year career behind her. Now she has her own weekly blog where she’ll be musing on the nature of the industry as well as some of her own favourite moments within it.

The E.ON Graduate campaign created by Jupiter has really taken off. The stunning video hosted on YouTube and Facebook, supported by a host of targeted collateral has already more than doubled applications to the majority of available programmes. E.ON has been so inundated with quality applications that they have had to start the screening process early to cope with all the interest.

Helen Atkinson joins the Jupiter team in November as Digital & Print Artworker, bringing to the Creative department some outstanding HTML5 markup language skills, not to mention a great eye for design. She joins the business from 8-Ball Games and says she is, ‘excited to work with such big clients for a company with such a great, down-to-earth culture.’

Smart Resourcing Solutions

Smart Resourcing Solutions are all set to enter the assessment centre simulation season with their busiest year yet, working with universities throughout the UK. Universities with an interest in exploring assessment simulations have been invited to observe either the Manchester or Watford events this Autumn.

They continue to work with employer clients on the delivery of their graduate recruitment campaigns with outsourcing support. They have also launched, providing resources and an online employability course for students and graduates. Employers have supported the launch by providing some engaging employer insights showcasing their opportunities.

Award recognition continues with MD Sophie Milliken shortlisted in two categories at the North East Business Woman of the Year Awards. The categories are Small Business and the flagship category for Entrepreneurship. Winners announced in mid-November.
