Agency Bites

Welcome to your festive – and final – edition of Agency Bites for 2017. It’s been quite a year and, despite all the talk of austerity and Brexit doom-mongering, it certainly feels like many agencies have been confidently growing their client lists and their teams. The continued rapid evolution of technology continues to evolve recruitment and employer comms across the board and bodes well for opportunities in 2018. For now, let us get you up to date with who’s been up to what and where – all packed into a 5 minute read!

Hodes

Hodes have enjoyed a very busy few months with new clients, new projects, new starters and a few shortlist award nominations.

New client wins include world famous FMCG organisations, glass manufacturers and financial advisory companies, global entertainments brands and one of the world’s leading broadcast, content & technology providers.

Hodes is ending its third-year post acquisition/turnaround by posting substantial year-on-year profitable growth and a long list of new hires, including Curtis Leonard - Project Manager, James Gold - Senior Account Manager, Tom Gouldesbrough - Jnr Content Producer & Strategist (joined as an intern and now full time) and Aude Moffitt - Accounts Assistant.

The team has also secured 12 shortlists at the RADs.

SMRS

SMRS ends the year with a new client, Deloitte, and by welcoming no less than 7 new people to the business in roles that include credit controller, facilities/office administrator, creative copywriter and content & channel team.

The team has also just completed a research project in conjunction with reed.co.uk to find out what really matters to candidates. You can find out more here.

Talent Works

Talents Works recently picked up an award for their work with BNP Paribas, winning the ‘Best Employee Communication & Engagement Initiative’ at the Drum Recruitment Business awards.

The Talent Works team has grown with the addition of James Newton as Client Development Manager with the UK client services team. Nicole Scaramuzzi, Karen Sommers and Sharon Theriot have also joined the client services team in the US.

In other news, the team successfully completed the Wolf Run, a cross country 10k obstacle course, raising over £1,500 for nominated charities Kidsaid and The Factory Youth Zone. The Northampton and Manchester offices are also set to compete in a charity cycling challenge in February which will see both teams cycle 50 miles to meet in Stafford.

Smart Resourcing Solutions

Smart Resourcing Solutions have been busy continuing delivery of Assessment Centre simulations with their University clients. Both the University of Lincoln and, new client, Canterbury Christ Church University, have worked closely with the business to deliver one day assessment centres on campus attracting engaged and enthusiastic students.

The team returned to the magnificent Etihad Stadium for the fourth year to facilitate the delivery of simulations to 400 students from the Manchester Fashion Institute, part of the Manchester Metropolitan University. Also, after a successful pilot last year, Smart partnered up with the University of Hertfordshire to deliver four days of simulations in 2017. The employability initiative event held at Watford FC saw over 1,000 Business and Humanities students participate. It was a huge success, generating great PR for the university with some fantastic feedback from both the assessors and students.

The business is looking forward to working with all of these universities and new clients in 2018 to continue to help set students on the right track to securing high quality placements and ultimately graduate jobs.

Smart were delighted to learn they were the winners of Most Outstanding Graduate Recruitment Specialists in the 2017 Global Excellence Awards.

TMP

TMP has welcomed a number of new starters including Lee Griffiths, Marta Sikorska, Luis Carlos Dos Santos Sousa and Harriet Webster. The business also welcomed back Cydney Georgiou, Lorna Gillam and Emma Campbell.

The film team has also been busy, producing new films for Linklaters, DEFRA, Arcadia, Sainsbury’s, Surrey Police and Royal College of Nursing.

New business wins for TMP include City of Westminster, De Beers, Hampshire CC, Sunrise Senior Living and AWE, as well as a global employer brand assignment for Diageo.

TMP has been shortlisted at the British Psychological Society Awards for interactive assessment work for SSE, won ‘Best Website’ at the NORAS for AA and is looking ahead to success in the upcoming RADS with 7 nominations.

Penna

Penna are thrilled to be ending the year on a high with 5 nominations for the RAD awards including Best Single Use of Media, Best Integrated Campaign and Employee Engagement.

In 2017 Penna has further consolidated their footprint as part of the Adecco Group, with Penna services now being delivered in the US and plans to extend their reach to APAC. Having presented at the Adecco Global Leaders Conference in Vienna, this week, they are confident there’ll be increased demand from the Adecco Group and their clients for their EVP, attraction and communication solutions in 2018.

With over 70 events hosted this year for clients and candidates across the board in London and the regions, the HR Leaders’ event in November with the BBC as keynote speakers was one of the highlights of Penna’s year as well as their student marketing event with Prospects.

New clients include EDF, JLR, London Ambulances and have been working on various exciting projects that will keep them busy in 2018 and beyond.

Finally, the Penna brand was refreshed to reflect their business, allowing audiences to see through their lens.  Penna is on the move; their new home will be Millennium Bridge House from Spring 2018.

Basis Media

Basis has just launched a new Pilot Website for Jet2 and is pleased to announce that their innovative cloud-based ATS - NexGen, is live with 5 new retail and hospitality clients.

In Onboarding, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust were winners in the ‘Best Onboarding Strategy’ category at the In-house Recruitment Awards, ahead of a new Onboarding Solution to be launched early 2018.

Finally, congratulations go to Holly and her partner Joe, who welcomed a beautiful boy named Henry into the world last month. Pippa has also joined Basis Media as Project Manager.

AIA

The final few months of the year are normally busy at AIA and this tradition continues with no less than 16 new joiners to the AIA family since mid-October.

Three of AIA’s clients have also been shortlisted for five RAD awards in categories including: diversity and inclusion, video, recruitment literature, school leaver and apprenticeship campaign and graduate/early careers website.

The last quarter has seen several AIA team members travelling around Europe and the Middle East to meet clients and industry contacts, kicking off projects and shaping up some exciting plans for 2018, which include attending European events and working with some exceptional brands.

AIA’s charity team has also been busy, holding a fundraising breakfast for Children in Need in November. While Terry Lawes and Callum Booker also downed razors to grow magnificent moustaches, more than doubling their target to raise money for men and women’s health charities.

Right now, the team is prepping for their annual Secret Santa, with a (daunting) ‘homemade’ theme this year.

SBW

SBW reports a busy end of year in Bristol and Cardiff with two large projects.

That includes a TV commercial and branding project for the Department for Education at Welsh Government, designed to encourage parents to talk, listen and play a little more with their young children. It was a challenging brief that required a sensitive and informative approach. According to the focus groups used to test the creative, SBW achieved this and the project is due to go live during the third week of January.

The team has also been busy developing an interactive display for client, Viridor. Containing 6 films and narrative about the range of waste and recycling services they provide, this was launched at an exhibition at the NEC on a stand that SBW also designed.

The team has also been working on a re-brand and website for a special needs charity, a website for a local children’s nursery and running some large nursing recruitment campaigns for NHS clients.

New starter, Matilda Baker, joins SBW as a junior account handler and the team are looking forward to a Christmas break with the office closing at mid-day on the 22nd for 10 days.

4MAT

4MAT announce the launch of the brand-new Harrods careers website. Aimed at improving the quality of applications that Harrods receives, the website builds on Harrods’ brand and heritage whilst also delivering an exciting and innovative candidate user experience.

The site’s cutting-edge features include Predictive Search, which delivers results in real time as the user types into the search bar. The new #BeHarrods section has also allowed Harrods to develop their employer brand by delivering fresh, useful news and content to jobseekers, whilst their staff profiles are integrated with relevant jobs and content, thus increasing candidate engagement and foregrounding the company’s employees.

4MAT has also focused on making sure that Harrods’ brand shines through. By working closely with their internal branding team, 4MAT ensured that the design mirrored the style, tone and flow of Harrods’ eCommerce website, whilst also tailoring it to deliver an excellent candidate experience.

The new website combines ease of use with high-end style, resulting in a brilliant user experience for candidates and employees alike.
