Even though summer is now officially in full swing, there seems to be little time to chill! Agencies across the nation are as busy as ever, so we’ve got a quick snapshot of what’s going on with whom and where…

Havas People

On 15th June, Havas People presented new research on ‘Marketing to Generation Z’ at their latest Talent Bites. The line-up included Doctor Ger Graus OBE from KidZania, Deborah Green from the University of Hull, Tanya de Grunwald from Graduate Fog and Liz Cheesbrough from SCB Partners.

Their Engage ATS team also enjoyed a busy couple of days at the CIPD Recruitment Software Show at Olympia, showcasing their Applicant Tracking System.

The agency is also looking ahead to the Recruitment Marketing Awards in July where they have no less than seven nominations for their work with Standard Chartered and

Talent Works

New hires at Talent Works include Ailyn Pestana, Junior Designer, and Lois Bleasdale, Researcher, Brand & Insight. The agency is also expanding their UK & US Sourcing teams and recruitment on-going in both Creative and Sourcing.

This quarter also saw the launch of their flexible, brand led RPO solution: Talent Mode.

Talent Works also picked up three awards at the EBMA awards in April including Silver in the Best Employer Brand from the Food & Beverage sector category, for their work with Wagamama and Bronze for Best Diversity Brand for their work with Ericsson.

Meanwhile, Talent Works has been shortlisted for 3 awards at this year’s RMA Awards including: Campaign of the Year and Diversity & Inclusion Initiative for their work with Wagamama and BNP Paribas respectively.

The agency recently attended their End of Year Conference at The Belfry where, as well as discussing achievements over the past year, set themselves a fundraising target of £15,000 for charities Factory Youth Zone, Kids Aid and US charity, Girls Inc. The team are in the midst of arranging an 80 mile Cycling Contest between the 2 UK based offices as well as completing the Three Peaks Challenge.


New wins in the last few months for TMP include contracts with Cheshire East Council, Environment Agency, Halton BC and Hampshire CC.

While on the Employer Branding front, the agency is busy delivering global EB projects for Eversheds and BSi. Plus, after an extensive tender process, TMP has been named sole supplier for recruitment advertising and marketing to Civil Service Human Resources.

Managing Director, Robert Peasnell, commented “We’re really pleased to be working with Civil Service HR. We look forward to providing innovative attraction strategies to support the significant transformation projects across Government”.

New joiners include Helen Durkin as Client Partner from Dixons Carphone,  Emma Tuson as Project Manager, Laurie Wood as Social Media Consultant and Ertu Muslu as Film-maker.

A number of people also returned to TMP, including Oliver Tranfield re-joining as Client Partner from JWT, Harriet Wortley as Client Manager, and Sam Jenning as Communications New Business Manager.

Smart Resourcing

Smart Resourcing welcomed a number of new people, including new associate, Paul Roberts, who is tasked with supporting Apprenticeship projects, and Rachael Cook, who is overseeing all admin tasks in the office.

The agency held an event in Leeds in early May to allow their core associate team to welcome Paul and Rachael and for MD, Sophie Milliken to set out the strategy for the coming year.

The agency is also in the midst of their largest scale assessment simulation yet for University of Hertfordshire. This will see them work with around 1,000 students at the Watford FC stadium in November on the Assessment Centre Experience (ACE) unit.

Smart Resourcing also continue to work with new university clients to embed assessment simulation activity into curriculum and are planning to roll this out to schools later this year too.

They have also updated their website to include some new features, including a “freebie” area where visitors can download a free apprenticeship checklist or CV template.

SMRS welcomed 8 new joiners in Client Services, Creative and Digital.  Their new client list now includes: mydentist, Mencap, Kerry Foods, Frontier and Cadent.

The agency was also shortlisted at the Recruitment Marketing Awards for Best Employer Brand and Best Recruitment Website – both for Swinton Insurance.

The SMRS team also attended the FindAUniversity Marketing Conference where Ed Layt, their Education Marketing Strategist, and Jonah Duffin, Director of External Relations at Birkbeck, University of London, presented on ‘Using data to drive student recruitment and retention’.

Sarah Sturgess, Agency Director, together with Eunice Clements-Tweedie, Director of Talent at Kerry Foods, presented at IHR Employer Branding conference on the story of Kerry Foods’ employer brand.


Hodes have welcomed a number of new clients over the last few months including Sky, Merlin Entertainments, Forrest Brown, FDM, Lazard, BBVA and Superdrug. Projects across the board include global EVP development and activation, new careers sites, and creating global social and content campaigns.

The team also welcomed Meg Thorpe, Javier Andreu, Tom Gouldesbrough and Lisa Scales.

Lisa joins to drive new business activity for Symphony Talent in the UK and Europe, working closely with Mark Hogan SVP Sales, EMEA, and Simon Phillips, MD for Europe.

This has been created by Hodes new role within Symphony Talent, blending great creative with Symphony Talent’s game-changing technology to activate employer brands in a brand new way. 

Hodes is also sending three of its creative team from both the UK and US teams to the Cannes Lions. This includes a week at the festival and a week on the Young Creative Academy.

Sophie Rogers (UK), Hannah Pomfret (UK) and Krista Kontovrakis (US) have the opportunity to be inspired by some of the best creative minds in the world.

Hodes is excited and looking forward to the RMAs where they have 9 nominations for their clients.


ThirtyThree people news includes London new starters Jade Linehan as Client Manager, and Mike Kosminsky, Catherine O’Leary, Rob Morten and Georgina Hensher as Client Executives, as well as Dan White as Senior Client Manager.

The team also welcomes Intern Karen Yuan to Brand and Insight, Angelique Jochems as Social Strategist, and Cheyenne Davis who has recently joined us as Community Manager.

In Bristol, Kate Kew joins as Office Manager and is leading an office re-vamp.

Also in Bristol, the team are working on a number of exciting Graduate and EVP projects including for Intertrust, Clarks and Stephenson Harwood. While the London team are gearing up for the start of graduate season.

The agency took home three awards at the EBMA awards, including two for McDonald’s and one for LV. They also had a win for BP in the 2017 Technology Excellence award at the NACE (National Association of Colleges and Employers) conference awards. The team is also looking forward to the RMAs where they have been nominated for the Army, VW and McDonald’s Franchise.

ThirtyThree are also delighted to announce that through charity fundraisers including a quiz and bike ride, they have raised an impressive £7,300 for Ronald McDonald House Charity, helping them to support families with sick children. 


In partnership with their new Adecco partner companies, Penna is continuing a busy year with their arrival in North America.

At the recent PPMA Conference, Julie Towers and Garfield Cameron joined the panel to discuss ‘Public Sector Operating Models' whilst Yvonne Skingle chaired a session on 'Developing the HR Public Service Professional of the Future'. The agency was also delighted to present Sonia Grewal, Head of People and Development, Swindon Borough Council with the ‘Peer of Year’ award.

The Penna Education team also presented at the UHR conference on ‘Increasing Diversity in your University - Attraction and Recruitment Strategies’. Client, Louise Alford from Sheffield Hallam University, talked about their recent campaign to help increase diversity at the University.

Penna also sponsor the MJ Senior Leadership Team award. They have hosted the 5 finalist councils in their office. Each council presented on what makes them worthy finalists. The team was joined by LGA Head of Improvement, Dennis Skinner and Chief Executives Joanne Roney of Manchester City Council and Lesley Seary of London Borough of Islington. Finalists are Fenland, St Albans, Calderdale, Thurrock and Wolverhampton Councils and the winner will be announced later this month.

Ruth Lane has been promoted to Consultant and Steven Burleigh appointed Associate Consultant.

Penna’s annual staff conference took place on the Dixie Queen with over 200 Penna staff members on board.

The agency also has 7 nominations at the Recruitment Marketing Awards 2017.

Basis Media

Digital Agency Basis has been very busy developing new career sites for Matalan, Pizza Hut, HC-One, Warburtons, Wincanton and Better Bathrooms.

Their solutions team has also been developing an innovative, interactive career planner for Premier Inn, an online assessment tool for Paddy Power and a new pan-European onboarding solution for Fabory.

NexGen ATS, Basis’ revolutionary cloud-based candidate management system, is currently on roll-out for Greene King, Poundland, Carpetright, Matalan and Utilitywise.

And congratulations go to Gemma Needham, Senior Project Manager, who married Chocolate Entrepreneur, William Whitaker.


Substantial growth continues at AIA Worldwide with new business wins including BMW, Siemens and Co-op.

This, and a growing client and project list, have all necessitated the team’s growth, including welcoming Amy Boswell as Media Account Manager, Charlotte Bradley and Claudia Edelstein as Client Account Managers, and Don Crossfield and Eve Woolhead join as Account Executives.

Margo Blanco has also joined as an Artworker and brings experience of working with international brands including Sony Pictures, Coca Cola, Toyota and Diageo. AIA also welcome Tom Waters to the Finance team, and new Intern, Noenie Tetiali, to work with the Media and Metrics team.

AIA has secured nominations in the CIPD Recruitment Marketing Awards for clients Marks & Spencer, Thales, Farmhouse Inns and Kraft Heinz. Categories include creative, employer branding and future talent work.

The team also took part in a Wear Red breakfast event for the British Heart Foundation.
