SMRS and Yodel. Together, they’re delivering

Yodel has announced the launch of its shiny new career website, as part of its drive to attract talent into the business. Every year they need to recruit over 6,000 people nationwide, in a range of customer facing, operational and back office roles. And for four years, SMRS has been helping them.

Yet with the need to recruit for 4,000 additional roles, created just to cope with the extra demand in the run up to Christmas alone (combined with the added challenges of huge national competition, the diverse potential target audiences and the associated complications arising from recruiting both self-employed and employed drivers), this was no easy brief.

To tackle this, SMRS worked with Yodel to develop a new EVP, new employer brand, careers site (see, toolkit,  image bank and video. And they did it in just under three months.

The launch was supported by a campaign featuring photos and videos of Yodel colleagues. It’s the first time that Yodel have put their people at the centre of a recruitment campaign and it really reflects their desire to celebrate the behind-the-scenes back office workers and the drivers who are the face of the business. Their people tell their stories of what it’s like to work at Yodel in a very unscripted, natural way. Here’s a few examples of what some of their everyday heroes have to say about working at Yodel.

Lynne Graham, People Director at Yodel said, “Our colleagues are the heart and soul of our business and our new recruitment site celebrates the hard work and dedication they show every day. In an increasingly competitive market we understand that quality people and great customer service are the key to our success. That’s why we’ve created a mobile-friendly recruitment site and advertising campaign that lets our colleagues tell their own story, in their own words. We’ve every confidence that this strategy will encourage more passionate, hardworking people to consider a career with Yodel.”
