CIPD seeks awards partner

Wednesday, 14 October 2009

The CIPD is inviting submissions from organisations interested in becoming its partner in the annual Recruitment Marketing Awards.  We understand that suitors must be prepared, not just to provide financial support, but to play a full part in organising and promoting the annual event (normally held in the summer), and managing the judging of the many hundreds of entries received each year.

The awards have a long and illustrious history, having started life as the Recruitment Advertising Awards in 1980, under the patronage of Express Newspapers.  In those days, the events were quite serious: after lunch speeches from a newspaper baron and the occasional government minister, followed by the prize-giving hosted by a BBC newsreader.  In 1994, The Guardian became the awards' principal sponsor and the Institute's partner.  Since then, presentations have taken place after dinner, in a succession of grand, interesting or odd venues, with black tie the order of the day, and some brilliant comic talent running the shows.  If there is change afoot, it will be a hard act to follow.

For more information and to express an interest, contact Richard Goff at the CIPD before 23rd October, 2009 - R.Goff@cipd.co.uk
